What the Jagadgurus quote

41 recorded talks — 40 by Śrī Bhāratī Tīrtha Mahāsvāmigaḷ and 1 by Śrī Vidhuśekhara Bhāratī Mahāsvāmigaḷ — with every verse they chanted placed on the clock of the recording. Ask it for a verse, a chapter or a work, and it answers in their own voice.

257recitations named
164distinct verses
18.7hours of discourse
206chanted, not yet named

A recitation is one time a verse was chanted: 257 recitations of 164 different verses, because some are chanted in more than one talk. Another 206 recitations, of 177 passages, could not be named; they are listed on their own page. The Tamil and Kannada exposition around them is not counted, and the closing nāmaghoṣa, heard at the end of 23 talks, is named but counted as neither.

Chanted in two or more of these talks, years and districts apart. No one has been able to compile this before: it needs every talk on one index, and it is a count rather than an opinion. Each timestamp opens the recording at the chant.

The 5 dhyāna-ślokas that open the talks are not ranked here — they are chanted before the discourse rather than returned to inside it. to see them all.

What to digitize next7 passages heard in more than one talk

Chanted, placed on the clock, and matched against nothing the index holds — because the text it comes from has not been digitized. Ranked by how many talks each absence costs. This is a list the mutt can act on: every text added here names verses in every talk at once, including talks not yet run.

What this page does not claim

Measured, mostly not yet heard

Every span here was placed by forced alignment against the audio and re-derived from the aligned word stream before printing. That is weaker than listening. Thirteen of these 41 talks were verified by ear in August; the rest have not been heard.

The dhyāna-ślokas are named by hand

No text in the corpus carries the invocations that open the discourses, so 32 of these recitations are named from a short list of dhyāna-ślokas kept by hand, at the maṭha’s request, and cited by their opening words rather than by a source work. Each is marked where it appears. Their wording is as it was checked against the recordings, and awaits the maṭha’s confirmation.

The closing nāmaghoṣa is named, and counted apart

«हर नमः पार्वतीपतये हर हर महादेव» closes 23 of these talks. It is an acclamation, not a verse quoted from a text, so it is named from the same hand-kept list and shown where it is chanted, but it is not counted among the recitations of verses, nor among what could not be named. Search hara to see every one.

Two talks whose counts answer a different question

Greatness of Sanskrit is delivered in Sanskrit throughout, so the script gate makes candidates of the Jagadguru's own prose — its 21 unnamed stretches are not missing texts, and they are left out of every count of what is not yet named. Misconceptions Dispelled is in Kannada and only its first four minutes carry Sanskrit in Devanagari; the rest was never searched.

Withheld

Anugraha Bhashanam | Laksharchana and kalashabhisheka to Lord Satyanarayana at Malla, Kerala ran, and is held back from this page because the classification is not to be trusted. Withholding is not deleting: the measurement stands on disk and is named here.

Where a citation is the wrong verse

A verse chanted from a text the index does not hold can still match a shared pāda somewhere else, and it does so at full confidence. The full note lists the cases found. Read a citation as the index's best address for what was chanted, not as a scholar's attribution.

The complete record — every talk, every recitation, every unnamed passage — is in the note this page was drawn from.
